Our featured bead store for this month is Bead It!
Bead It! first opened its' doors on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, near the slopes of the famous landmark Diamond Head. They started 15 years ago in a tiny location in the neighborhood of Kaimuki and have since moved into an expanded space and opened 2 other locations on Oahu in Kailua (east Oahu) and Kapolei (west Oahu).
Owners, Brendan & Jill Barry, attribute much of their success to staying in tune with their customers' needs and desires, staying on top the latest trends within the bead and fashion industry, and most importantly having a team of creative, friendly and knowledgeable people to help with all your beading needs.
At each location you'll find an expansive collection of Swarovski crystal, semi-precious stones, vintage and Czech glass, seed beads, ethnic glass, wood, shell, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, vermeil, a variety of stringing materials, (such as Soft Flex® - a favorite for the beginning and advanced beader), wire, chain, findings, books, and tools. While these are items that may be found in other stores, Bead It prides itself on the unique and unusual. Both Jill and Brendan travel the world in search of the best.
You'll find an array of inspiration sprinkled throughout the stores. Classes are available for the beginning stringer or wireworker as well as the advanced artist wanting to become certified in Art Clay Products, or learn wire fusing techniques.
Bead It! makes contributions to local charities and organizations throughout the year. They also participate in student internships and adult employment placement programs; Several times a year young students take tours of our store to learn about beads, jewelry, and business.
