Our featured bead store this month is Bead Station

Bead Station, located in Lake Forest, Ca., has been around for approximately 20 years. We cater to beaders at all levels of experience, from beginning to advanced. We carry a wide variety of beads: semiprecious beads, Swarowski crystals, Czech glass beads, Japanese cylinder and seed beads, one-of-a-kind lampworked focal beads, vintage glass and resin beads. We also have the materials that you will need to make them into the project of your choice, including a full line of Soft Flex® stringing materials. Our staff knows their stuff, and we do our best to help you find what you need and to answer your bead-related questions.

We offer classes in the basics: bead stringing and basic jewelry making, pearl knotting, and basic off-loom bead weaving stitches. Intermediate and advanced classes are also available: off-loom bead weaving projects and techniques, loom work, Japanese table braiding (kumihimo), wire wrapping techniques and projects, precious metal clay, fused and lampworked glass techniques and silver soldering and silver fabrication. We bring in teachers from all over the United States. All of our teachers are experts in their specialties; many teach nationally and internationally.

Several times during the year we have "mini-class" days. At those times we have up to six classes running consecutively during the day. Each class costs $15 and runs for two hours; you can participate in as many as three. Currently we have scheduled the following mini-class days:

  • Feb. 1, Souper Bowl Sunday (there's also a potluck lunch)
  • May 9, the Saturday before Mother's Day
  • Sept. 26, the last Saturday in September
  • Dec. 5, the first Saturday of December

We repair jewelry and restring and re-knot beads and pearls, and host parties for children and for adults. Call 949-859-2323 and ask for more information, or find us online at www.beadstn.net.
