SPOTLIGHT ON ... STORE
April 2009
Our featured bead store this month is Firefly Jewelry & Beads
My name is Peggy Melton. The picture of me below is how I love to live my life. A little girl looking for Love and Joy in all that is good & beautiful. For me that means spending time with friends engaged in artistic and fun activities.

I was born with an artistic eye and enjoy various mediums to express this talent. I enjoy stained Glass, Sketching, Painting, Counted Cross Stitch, Interior Design and, of course, DESIGNING JEWELRY. I consider this ability a gift from God. I simply use this gift to live a happy and joyous life.

I am married to a wonderful man, Franklin, who puts up with my beading supplies all over the house ... in the car, in the motor home and in the garage. I am blessed with four Children and ten Grandchildren. They truly light up my life.
Samples of my designs:
Firefly's story began in 2000 after Peggy Melton left a 23 year career with a Fortune 500 company. She began attending "International Gift Shows" across the country to sell her jewelry designs to retail stores. She discovered making the same designs over and over again, to fill the never ending, retail orders was not her "cup of tea". So, in 2005 she opened a 450 sq. ft. bead store. There was enough room for a cash register and beads hung from floor to ceiling. It took some time to build sales to support three employees.
In January of 2009 we moved into a store front of 1800 Sq. Ft., which allows Peggy the luxury of teaching classes to more than one person at a time and provide Trunk Shows for local artists and some of her favorite suppliers. The first Saturday of each month we have an event named "The Recession Buster". If the customer buys a kit the class is free.
Our mission at Firefly is to validate every human experience for every customer who enters our store. What this means it we help all who enter to leave happy with their choices of color and design.
All of Peggy's employees are gifted artists themselves. They strive to help our customers develop their own style. We do this by listening. I mean, really listening to what the customer wants and needs. Sometimes it is simply an ear to listen to their troubles, and sometimes it is to be left alone while they choose their purchases.
We also have a lounge (to the right above) where customers, drink coffee or tea, and/or peruse bead magazines for new ideas. This is also an area where customers simply gather to visit. When we have trunk shows we have live music located in the area.

Store Hours: Monday - Saturday 10am - 6pm
