Our featured designer for this month is Carmen Guerrero
Carmen was born and raised in Recife, Brazil. Married and living in Arizona for the past 30 years, she formed the popular Brazilian band Zum Zum Zum where she sang and played guitar, charango, accordion and the vibraphone.
Her philosophy is based on the need to express and explore our indigenous roots through music, theater, ritual and art in order to foster multicultural understanding and appreciation while passing on valuable oral and cultural traditions to future generations.
She is a jewelry designer and an avid beader. She started beading as little girl and regards beading as a form of medication and the jewelry a source of empowerment.
Highly inspired by Frida Kahlo, she has joined the Phoenix Fridas Craft Group. Her latest artistic adventure is jewelry and she is fascinated with bead work and her passion is the creation of unique and expressive wearable art pieces.
