SPOTLIGHT ON ... DESIGNER
May 2009
Our featured designer for this month is Christine H. Clayton
Seeking a relaxing creative outlet, I first began making jewelry in 2004. What was to be a mere distraction turned into a passion. Five years and many spools of wire and Soft Flex® later, I’m still in love with jewelry design. It’s always a happy day when I get a new shipment of polished stones in the mail!
I’m fortunate enough to live in the lovely Sierra Nevada foothills, and a great deal of my inspiration comes from the colors and patterns of nature and the elegance of the changing seasons. A snowflake hitting my window inspired my “Ice Goddess” necklace.
A lyrical, romantic spirit is central to my designs. I enjoy using organic materials such as pearls, stones, shells and wood. I take great care in the creation of my designs; every item I craft is a little piece of me.
I started selling my designs on Etsy in 2006 to help fund my addiction to creating bright, shiny baubles. In the near future, I hope to add step by step tutorials to my store and look forward to teaching classes locally.
