The name Topaz is thought to have be derived from an island in the Red Sea, St. John's Island, formerly known as Topazios. Common Topaz is yellow or wine colored. Topaz is sometimes mistaken for other stones as it can be found in a spectrum of colors, often it will be mistaken for a stone that is not as valuable. Mohs' Hardness Scale: 8 Topaz (smoky) represents the throat chakra, which is positioned at the base of the throat. It controls the throat, arms and hands. Topaz aids in detoxification and regeneration and helps clear the chakras. Topaz is the birthstone for November/ Scorpio and resonates with Sagittarius. |
