Sodalite is a deep ocean blue mineral similar in appearance to Lapis. It was discovered in 1806, in Greenland. It takes it's name from two Greek words meaning salt and stone, this name is derived from it's high sodium content.Sodalite is sometimes called Princess Blue, after Princess Patricia of Connaught, who used the stone for interior decoration. Mohs' Hardness Scale: 5.5-6 Sodalite (blue) represents the throat chakra, which is positioned at the base of the throat. It controls the throat, neck, arms and the hands. Sodalite enhances communication and insight allowing one to identify true feelings and verbalize them. Sodalite resonates with the astrological sign Sagittarius. |
